Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee (SNTIC)

Created by Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval in July 2015, the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee brought together key community leaders and stakeholders to identify and prioritize tourism improvement projects in southern Nevada and explore potential funding mechanisms to support new tourism-related initiatives. After holding 16 meetings over a period of 15 months, the committee forwarded a series of recommendations to the Governor.

Among the committee's five recommendations was a proposal to raise additional revenue through the room tax in Clark County to fund construction of an NFL stadium project, which became law in October 2016 when the Nevada State Legislature passed Senate Bill 1. The bill established the Las Vegas Stadium Authority and enabled the funding, legal framework and oversight mechanisms to build a new NFL stadium in southern Nevada.
